Review

The Fairies is the stuff of little girls’ dreams: a stage clad in pastels of every hue and brought to life by grown-ups in vibrant costumes with equally creative imaginations…and delightful Aussie accents, of course. Parents will notice subpar effects and some pretty cheesy acting on the grown-up actors’ parts, but the effect will be altogether different for kids. The humorous stories are jazzed up by song-and-dance numbers that kids will want to get up and imitate, and, on this point, even parents have to give the show credit for quality tunes that teach great social lessons.

But when the glitz and shimmer dies down, what do preschoolers take with them from this joyful show? Quite a lot of solid illustrations of self-esteem, perseverance, respect, sharing, and many other admirable qualities explored by the joyful characters in the context of the cute tales. All in all, The Fairies is an engaging departure from the typical American preschool series and offers kids a wealth of quality content as it entertains them.”
